Waterproof Coating Cement Types 

Cement for waterproof coating (quick picks)

• The two-part cementitious slurry SikaTop® Seal-107 (MY) is used for walls, bathrooms, basements, and tanks. Sturdy type; ideal for immobile surfaces. Supplied in a set of 25 kg (A+B).
• One-component, flexible, fiber-reinforced cementitious coating for external walls, terraces, basements, and balconies is Sikalastic®-1 KMY. Trowel, roller, or brush.
• Flexible two-part SikaTop® Seal-109 MY coating for tanks, balconies, wet rooms, and other surfaces.

Advice: While flexible mortar can accommodate slight movement, rigid mortar is hard and unyielding. Choose according to the amount of surface movement.

Plywood Types (for locations close to wet works)

• Best suited for dry interiors, MR grade is “moisture-resistant” rather than waterproof.
• Better water resistance and suitability for semi-wet areas, such as kitchens, characterise BWR grade.
• Marine grade, or BWP, offers superior resistance for outdoor or high-moisture applications.

Specifications & Applications 

• Two-part SikaTop® Seal-107 (MY) system: A (5 kg) + B (20 kg) = 25 kg set. Water tanks, restrooms, terraces, balconies, and basements are among the uses. Put on a minimum of two coats.
• Flexible and crack-bridging, Sikalastic®-1 KMY can be applied with a brush, roller, or trowel and works on tanks, walls, floors, balconies, and more.
• Flexible coating for tanks, balconies, wet rooms and bathroom walls and floors is SikaTop® Seal-109 MY.

Reminder: When choosing a Sika waterproof coating, keep in mind that it should be flexible for areas that move slightly (like balconies) and rigid for areas that are stable (like walls or tanks).
